Nowadays, there are many diseases and arising new diseases in modern
world, the science world is identifying these diseases and they are
trying to give medicines for these problems. However these drugs are
having many side effects which can be seen in regular intervals of
drugs usage. One of the drugs for treating fungal infections
affecting the skin is ketoconazole and it has many side effects.
Ketoconazole is generally known as a well tolerated medicine and its
side effects cause rash, itching, nausea or vomiting, abdominal
pain, headache, dizziness, fatigue, impotence, blood count
abnormalities etc. The usage of ketoconazole will cause a reaction
which results in serious lowering of the blood pressure, shock or
anaphylaxis. Many other side effects of ketoconazole is that sever
depression, hair loss, tingling sensations etc.
The usage of ketoconazole shampoo has caused to loss of curl of
permanently waved hair. Ketoconazole should be strictly avoided
during pregnancy time and planning to become pregnant or during
breast feeding. This medicine is also avoided in children. The
ketoconazole has caused serious heart side effects, if the medicine
has administered with antihistamines including terfenide or seldane,
astemizole or hismasal and with cisapride or propulsid and many
other medicines. The patient should not use this medicine with the
sedative named triazolarm since it can cause the risk of excessive
sedation.
